Xonetic is a founder-led technology management consultancy. We solve the technology problems that matter to business leaders, from strategy through hands-on delivery. Our founder and senior team have led technology and transformation functions inside major organisations, and have seen too many ambitious digital strategies stall in execution. Xonetic was founded to close that gap.

We work with banks, insurers, private equity portfolios, retailers, healthcare providers, universities and the public sector. Recent work includes helping a UK SME bank rebuild its technology end to end, helping a UK banking institution set and deliver its technology and data strategy, and refining the technology operating model at a major UK university. We work in small, senior, AI-first flash teams, and we pass on our capability to clients rather than creating dependency.

The role

We're looking for a bright, polished early-career consultant to join one of our client engagements straight away.

Your first assignment is a software selection engagement for a plant hire business. You'll help the client define what they need, run a structured process with software vendors, and reach a confident, well-evidenced decision. New systems change how people work, so the role also has a strong people change element. You'll help the client's teams understand, accept and adopt what's coming.

You won't be on your own. You'll work alongside Xonetic's founder, who brings deep project management and software selection expertise, and a senior colleague who combines 20 years in the construction industry with significant hands-on experience building AI technology. Between them, they bring the method, the sector knowledge and the AI know-how. You'll keep the process running: organising, communicating, writing, presenting and making sure nothing falls through the gaps. Along the way, you'll learn from both.

The role starts as a 3-month fixed-term contract, with a real opportunity to extend and join us permanently.

What you'll do

• Keep the software selection process on track, managing plans, trackers, actions, risks and deadlines
• Organise and run workshops, vendor demonstrations and stakeholder meetings, and capture clear notes and actions
• Write high-quality client documents, such as requirements, vendor briefs, evaluation summaries and status updates
• Build and deliver clear, professional presentations to client stakeholders, including senior leaders
• Help structure and score vendor evaluations, so that recommendations are objective and well evidenced
• Engage with people across the client's business, from depot teams to the leadership, and understand their needs, concerns and ways of working
• Support colleagues through change: listen, explain, and help turn resistance into buy-in
• Use AI tools every day to work smarter, and help develop the AI-enabled methods and tools we use across Xonetic
• Represent Xonetic professionally alongside the wider team at client sites, in London and across the UK

About you

We're hiring for aptitude, presence and appetite, not years of experience. You'll need:

• A 2:1 degree or above in any discipline. Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, STEM and other analytical subjects are particularly welcome.
• A real interest in, or experience of, technology. Whatever your degree, you'll be able to show it, whether through study, projects, placements, work or what you build and explore in your own time. We're a highly technical consultancy, and you'll be working closely with software vendors and client IT teams.
• Client presence. You're confident, professional and personable, and comfortable in a room with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written communication. You take pride in producing clear, well-structured documents to a high standard. We'll support you with fast, constructive feedback, and we'll look for a real appetite to act on it and keep improving.
• Clear, articulate communication. You speak clearly and confidently, and you can explain ideas simply, whether you're presenting to a room or talking one to one. Excellent spoken and written English is essential.
• Logical, structured thinking. You break problems down, weigh up options objectively and build a sound case.
• Organisation. You keep a multi-step process moving and follow things through without being chased.
• People and change skills. You enjoy working with people at every level of an organisation. You bring empathy and an open mind, take time to understand different points of view, and support people through change that may feel unfamiliar or difficult.
• An appetite for AI. You already use AI tools with curiosity, and you want to learn how to apply them to real client work and help develop our AI capability.
• Coachability. You learn quickly from experienced colleagues, and welcome feedback.

Great if you have

• Exposure to business software, systems or digital transformation, e.g. through a placement, dissertation or previous role
• Hands-on AI use beyond chat, such as workflows, automations, no-code tools or light scripting
• Confidence with Excel or Google Sheets for scoring and analysis
• For Grade E2: 2 to 3 years' experience in consulting, business analysis, project coordination or a client-facing role

You don't need

• Plant hire or construction experience
• Project management qualifications
• Software selection or procurement experience
• Professional coding skills

Working pattern

This is a hybrid role based in the Sevenoaks area. You'll work from our local office on average two days a week, sometimes more. The office location may change from time to time, but will stay within around 30 minutes of Sevenoaks. You'll also travel regularly to London and to client sites across the UK, occasionally at short notice.

You'll need a full driving licence, or the ability to travel independently to changing locations. Please apply only if you can commit to this pattern.
